What do we do?

The Association for English-German Bilingual Education of Edmonton (AEGBEE) is the parent society that supports, promotes and guides the German Bilingual program at Edmonton Public Schools. All parents of students enrolled in the German Bilingual program are automatically members of AEGBEE. Others who contribute to the success of the program may become associate members.

Through fundraising activities, AEGBEE contributes resources such as library books and teaching and language resources to all program schools. AEGBEE also funds special events to broaden the language learning for the students.

The yearly promotional campaign to bring new students and awareness to the program is also organized and funded by AEGBEE.

How you can help

Parent input is very important to a successful bilingual program. The AEGBEE executive is made up of parent volunteers. Your talents and energy would be a appreciated in an executive position or as an assistant with the many tasks necessary to keep the program healthy and vibrant. Volunteers are needed to run our fundraising casino held approximately every 20 months.

Meetings are held five times during the school year (rotating through at each German Bilingual school location). The parent AEGBEE executive and DKK representatives; school principals and language consultants provide updates at each meeting on activities involving the German bilingual students. Parents are always welcome to attend these meetings or to approach AEGBEE executive members with their program questions or concerns.
