What do we do?

The Association for English-German Bilingual Education of Edmonton (AEGBEE) is a group of parent volunteers, principals and teachers from our 5 German Bilingual schools, as well as guest representation from Die Kleine Kinderschule, German Language advisor (German Central Agency for Schools Abroad/ZfA, Alberta Education), and EPSB language consultants. The association strategically and financially supports the German Bilingual Program in Edmonton (K-12), one of the few German programs in Canada which lead to the internationally recognized Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD) language proficiency exams.

The executive volunteers are parents who have children in the program, and who care about keeping this unique program active and effective.

Our primary goals are:

  • to organize and facilitate a source of revenue with a biannual casino
  • to promote the program in order to maintain and gain student enrollment
  • to manage and distribute these funds equitably to all of our schools

How can you help?

Parent input is very important to a successful bilingual program! There’s lots you can do and your talents and energy would be greatly appreciated in an executive position or as an assistant with the many tasks necessary to keep the program healthy and vibrant.

Here’s a list of a few things you can do to contribute:

Volunteers are needed to run our fundraising casino held approximately every 20 months.

AEGBEE meets only 5 times per school year, rotating meeting places at one of our 5 schools, to plan, organize, share ideas, report activities, and to bring up any concerns. Meetings are open to all AEGBEE members and parents are always welcome to attend these meetings or to approach AEGBEE executive members with their program questions or concerns.
